About this experience

Since 1974, our team has specialized in showing visitors the real Oʻahu through immersive experiences led by passionate local guides. Our mission is simple: turn your day into unforgettable memories filled with Hawaiian history, culture, and natural wonder.

Everything you need is included: entrance to Byodo-In Temple ($10 value), full access to Waimea Valley with time to swim at the falls ($20 value), sit-down lunch at Pounders Restaurant or Tanaka Shrimp, and hotel pickup.

You'll explore Byodo-In Temple's peaceful koi ponds and ring the sacred bell, walk through lush botanical gardens to Waimea Falls, stand at the dramatic Nuʻuanu Pali cliffs where Hawaiian legends were born, sample fresh macadamia nuts at Tropical Farms, and visit the iconic Dole Plantation, all while traveling comfortably with expert guides who bring each location to life through storytelling and deep cultural knowledge.

Perfect for first-time visitors and families seeking an authentic island experience.

Schedule

Start times: 08:00

  1. Stop 1 · 15 min

Our first stop of the day is at one of the most scenic and historic places in all of O'ahu. Learn the story about how King Kamehameha united all of the Hawaiian Islands under one monarchy as we visit the very spot where a famous battle took place.

  2. Stop 2 · 30 min

As we drive along the Ko'olau mountain range we stop to discover a hidden gem tucked away from the main road. Byodo-In Temple was featured by National Geographic in "20 of the world's most beautiful Buddhist temples," noting its architectural details and awe inspiring surroundings.

  3. Stop 3 · 20 min

Famously known as "The Little Country Store On Your Way to the North Shore" Steve and Chrissy Paty started this as a roadside operation in 1987 and now, three decades later it's a great place to try different local snacks and learn how to crack open some macadamia nuts as the chickens stand by watching hungrily hoping you drop a nut or two.

  4. Stop 4 · 45 min

At Pounders, guests will have access to a greater variety of dining options, and after their meal, they can explore the retail shops at Hukilau Marketplace within the Polynesian Cultural Center. As an added bonus, Pounders is offering our guests a 10% discount at select stores

  5. Stop 5 · 30 min

Join your our team tour guide on a short hike to a stunning 45-foot waterfall, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim. Along the way, discover the rich history of Waimea Valley and learn why this sacred area holds deep cultural and spiritual significance.

  6. Stop 6 · 30 min

We conclude our day with a scenic drive through the charming Haleiwa Surf Town and picturesque pineapple fields, leading to a stop at the famous Dole Plantation. Be sure to indulge in the world-renowned DoleWhip frozen dessert—a refreshing treat to enjoy under the warm Hawaiian afternoon sun!
